THE STORY
OF CAVARLY

It all started with a mini dress from the AllSaints archives, which was transformed with a dramatic train for the runway and is now alive in many iterations – from playful denim to sultry lace, and with more versions landing soon.

Summer’s hottest dress, Cavarly is the silhouette that keeps on giving – there’s a style for everyone, and every occasion. We’re talking festivals, weddings, sun-drenched getaways, kitchen discos, and everything in between.

BEHIND THE SEAMS

Here, we go Behind The Seams with our Senior Womenswear Designer, Chloe Anderson, as she shares the inspiration, creative process and evolution of the iconic style. Plus, get an insight into what’s yet to come for the collection.

Where did it all begin?

“It started from one little inspiration from the archive and it’s just grown and grown. We decided we wanted to do a runway version – do it with a massive train, basically – and that’s how the maxi version was born. It’s been an amazing collaboration between the design team, the factory and our in-house atelier, we all bounced ideas back and forth. It was something we created and all loved so much, so we’ve created further variations from it. We’re just embracing it and having fun with it at the moment.”

How has it evolved?

“We’ve done an updated fit of the original to modernise it, making sure the volume through the skirt is just right. And we’ve updated the fabrications. But at the core, we’ve kept it very true to the original design. It’s a wow dress. It’s a drama dress.”

How to wear it?

“I think so many people feel like they can wear the Cavarly, because it’s short at the front but then you’ve got a bit of coverage at the back, so it balances out. We’ve got lots of different versions and fabrications now for different occasions. The lace one feels very dressy, whereas some of the solid colour ones feel a bit more casual, maybe for a festival or holiday. And people love styling them, you see them with a big chunky belt, or just very loose and easy. It’s got good styling options.”

What’s coming next?

“We’ve worked on new silhouettes – it’s all about the different seasons, occasions and fabrications. Coming out in winter this year, we have a tulle version with lace trims – we’re adding even more details and texture into it. We’re also trying some more summer beachy versions in a cheesecloth fabric. We’re doing a bit of everything. She’s gonna keep on going for a while, Cavarly, she’s got a lot of life.”
